As strategic procurement decisions often account for 50 to 60 percent of the total costs of a company, procurement costs are accordingly a key determinant of business success.

However, the traditional way procurement is organised has its weaknesses: long lead times, high process costs, poor consideration of needs, little transparency and many activities that do not add any significant value, are just some aspects we could mention.

Although the ERP systems generally used for procurement (SAP, Axapta etc.) provide a lot of mainly operational data, their design does little to enhance transparency, and consequently are not much help when it comes to developing and implementing procurement strategies.

What is actually needed are suitable user-friendly tools that enable flexible analysis of operational procurement structures to provide indicators to support efficient procurement controlling.

MIK has therefore developed a standardised solution for procurement management encompassing areas such as material group management, supplier development, Group-wide coordination of procurement activities and much more besides. It can be used to make processes more transparent and identify potential savings.
